چکیده
On the day of surgery, heart rate (HR) was 139 bpm, noninvasive blood pressure (BP) 93/31 mmHg, SpO2 81% on room air, and temperature 36.5° C. Patient was preoxygenated with 100% O2, which increased SpO2 to 99%. Anesthesia was induced by face mask with sevoflurane in oxygen with gradual increase in concentration to 6%. Immediately after venous access was obtained, propofol 2 mg/kg-1 was administered. Patient was easy to ventilate and saturation was 99% when intubation was attempted for the first time. Upon laryngoscopy, vocal cords could be visualized and uncuffed endotracheal tube (3.0 mm) was inserted easily.

Surgical treatment for patients with tracheal and subgllotic stenosis
Abstract Background: Iatrogenic airway injury after endotracheal intubation and tracheotomy remains a serious clinical problem. In this study we reviewed post-intubation and traumatic tracheal stenosis in 47 patients with a special attention to the cause, hense surgical treatment of the stenosis was performed and the results compared with the literatures. Methods: Since February 1995 th...
متن کاملPost-Intubation Tracheoesophageal Fistula; A Nine-Year Experience
Introduction: Tracheoesophageal fistula (TEF) is a rare condition, which could be life-threatening if diagnosed late or mismanaged. Post-intubation TEF is the most common form of acquired, non-malignant TEF and is usually associated with tracheal stenosis, which makes the treatment more challenging. Here, we present our experience of managing 21 patients with post-intubation TEF. Materials & ...

The most common cause of airway stenosis is prolonged intubation. Postintubation stenosis may be a delayed onset and may progress gradually. Endoscopic assessment and deciding to do a tracheostomy after 7 days is advised in adults. Segmented resection and primary anastomosis is the most effective modality of treatment for complete or near-complete tracheal stenosis. Surgeon’s ability for re...

متن کاملTwo complications of tracheal intubation in a neonate: gastric perforation and lung collapse.
A N infant delivered in a private hospital after 33 weeks’ gestation weighed 2,050 g, had persistent tachypnea, and had associated hypoxia requiring intubation. After three esophageal intubations, the neonate’s trachea was successfully intubated. Despite mechanical ventilation, the infant had persistent tachycardia, hypoxemia (80–90% oxygen saturation) and a distended abdomen. A preoperative ra...
